We are delighted to be welcoming Jade Anstis onto the RLSCC Committee as our Time Trial (TT) Representative. To help us all get to know a little more about Jade, and her role, she's shared a bit about herself as part of our Meet the Committee series.
How long have you been on the committee?
Since October 2022.
What does your role entail?
Ensuring the smooth running and promotion of the summer Time Trial events. These are held every Tuesday on our local 10 mile & 25 mile courses from April – August. The best night of the summer weekdays ;)
What is your Cycling discipline?
Road cycling and specifically long distance triathlon aboard a TT bike.
What do you ride?
Liv Avow (TT) owned and cherished since 2016. Plus a Liv Envie (Road).
How long have you been with the club?
Since 2016
What do you enjoy about the RLSCC?
The summer-long liveliness that is TT racing! Reliably awesome every week. The friends you make each week on a Tuesday evening – that share that same hard graft & enjoyment – are a special type of friend :)
What is your most significant cycling achievement?
My 100 mile and 50 mile TT PB’s have to be up there (4 hours, 26 minutes and 2 hours, 06 minutes respectively). Plus, most recently, an Ironman Triathlon World Champs qualification in Arizona, USA, featuring a 112 mile ride. Riding in Kona, Hawaii this year (2023) will be a whole new level of awesome and an experience of a lifetime – incredibly excited!
Who is your cycling hero?
Sounds silly, but my #1 hero is my husband, Ralph. He lit the cycling fire inside me and continues to inspire and encourage me daily. I also look up to the most grounded female professional triathletes as heroes – Daniela Ryf and Kat Matthews.
What cycling event or discipline would you like to have a go at?
A 12 hour TT has always been tempting!
What is your cycling mantra?
Consistency, commitment and specificity are key!
But keep the fun alive ;) …you need to love what you do.
